National Family Literacy Month


November is National Family Literacy Month! Join us at any Manatee Library storytime beginning on November 4th and receive a free book tote while supplies last. Help instill a love for reading at an early age!

Join the Adult Reading Challenge!

The Adult Reading Challenge runs until November 30th! This season, our theme is "Autumn Leaves & Cozy Reads." Participants will be given fall-themed reading prompts, and each completed prompt counts as an entry into the Grand Prize drawing.

We’re excited to announce our new online catalog, launching November 15th! With the same great content and a fresh new look, we encourage patrons to explore and get familiar with all the latest features.

Closures
The Central Library is closed for repairs  due to Hurricane Milton damage. Polling will still be available at the library on November 5, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Updates on reopening will follow. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
 

All Manatee Library locations will be closed on November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. All branches will reopen on Tuesday, November 12 at 9 a.m.


 

The Lakewood Ranch Library will be closed for maintenance from November 18 through November 22. The branch will reopen on Saturday, November 23 at 9 a.m.
 

All Manatee Library locations will be closed on November 28 & 29 in observance of Thanksgiving. All branches will close early on Wednesday, November 27th at 6 p.m. All branches will reopen on Saturday, November 30 at 9 a.m.

Historical Events
Military Challenge Coins
From identification across enemy lines to unit morale, challenge coins symbolize a celebrated aspect of military material culture. Rumored to have been forged in the spirit of volunteerism to enlist to serve in WWI, the origin of this tradition has eluded historians for decades. Bring your challenge coins and share in a discussion of lore and nostalgia in honor of our nation's Armed Forces.

Creative Aging: Watercolor Magic

Creative Aging is a series of workshops that teaches people 55 and over in the Arts. Join our teaching artist to learn the basics of watercolor in this four-week course.
